11-16 June 2017

We had another great camp in 2016, and we're looking forward to making the transition to a weeklong residential camp on the campus of Western Carolina University!

Ian Jeffress, Camp Director

Assembly Quartet, Artist-Faculty

The Assembly Quartet invites you to attend the Carolina Saxophone Camp on the campus of Western Carolina University from June 11-16, 2017. Open to all high school and undergraduate saxophonists, this thrilling week of saxophone and music-making is in its fifth year. The Assembly Quartet will serve as artist-faculty for the camp, and includes Dr. Adam Estes (The University of Mississippi), Dr. Jeff Heisler (Oakland University), Dr. Matt Younglove (Wayne State University), and Dr. Ian Jeffress of Western Carolina University. This year, the Camp will be held concurrently with the American Trombone Quartet’s Summer Chamber Music Seminar, and participants will be able to learn from both chamber ensembles in a variety of settings.

Camp activities include performance in solo, chamber, and ensemble music settings, private lessons, study of jazz and contemporary techniques, and classes in improving musicianship and performance. Days will also include concerts by the Assembly Quartet, group activities (including a rafting trip through the beautiful Smoky Mountains!), and student performances. This is a wonderful opportunity for all student saxophonists to hone their craft in a week of intense music and fun times!
